OBLIGATIONS _ It was a lazy summer day,chasing each other between tangles of the trees while playing cops-and-robbers. I have a zillion such memories, playing hide and seek, running in those green fields, plucking marigolds, laying down under that clear blue sky and going back home only to return back to the same place at the same time. How much I wish to do that all over again, to meet them again and hold them tight like we were never apart, like nothing ever happened. I dream of going back to those green fields, yellow-orange marigolds and mates of my soul. I wish to fill a few more pages of my picture album with their happy faces but these new triggering obligations won't let me. Goodbye _ What could a goodbye probably mean? Is it a dead end or a fresh new start. Start of a new notebook to be filled with old ink pen. Why would it hurt to say or hear a goodbye? You hold someone so close, almost clinging next to your centre to not to let them go. Old soul, you need to understand, they ought to go. Train your heart like a dog, hold the chains tight and pull hard whenever the need be. They will move in a different time zone but they will surely hum the lyrics you scribbled on the back of their notebook. They will eat wheat crackers with mayo, just because this is the way you fed them when they knocked your door at 8 on a dull Sunday morning. They might not call you, might fail to drop in a message, but they will always remember you while skimming through their bucket list recalling the crazy plans you both charted under that starry sky. You will be a part of them, just like they are a part of you. We are a part of each other, made up with zillion little parts of many others. Do not associate a goodbye with loss. You're not losing them, you are assimilating them into your being, without having to physically touch their skin. I clearly remember what curiosity spurred into my brain on hazy afternoon of that summer -- the summer I was about twelve. Summers back then meant long days of playing seven stones and board games, juggling with school projects and lazing in front of television set with chilled rasna (or chocolate shakes on the days we were lucky enough). Watching re-runs of Ramanand Sagar's Ramayana was something I dreaded the most but often had to succumb into mumma's choice. One such afternoon, as the episode of much famous 'Agnee Pariksha' played on our television, it stirred a zillion questions inside my mind. Why is she doing that? What Maya what Saya, isn't she the same person? Why is it that only she has to do it and not her better half?... _ Years later, my questions still remain unanswered or unheard or neglected in most of the cases. हरिद्वार waters testifying life and beyond _ We were in a live-in relation for two years before he decided to discuss about us with his family. I was good four months pregnant then. His is a simple Indian family who moved to Seattle after his dad was appointed as a professor in a university there. His parents would always have a problem with my lifestyle or so did I thought, hence I pestered him to officially move out of his parent's place. We had a beautiful baby boy later that summer. Shiven, lord Shiva as we baptized him. Our baby was diagnosed with chronic leukaemia at the age of three and I never once remember Rudra's mother leaving my side that time. I don't remember how many nights we both spent crying over this misfortune but I do remember his mother brining in warm soups and seasoned vegetables for us. She never admitted but she longed for Shiven as much as we did. And just a week into his death Rudra's father booked us all a flight to Haridwar, the land of immortal waters. He says he need to get Shiven's name listed in genealogy register that is with their family Bhramin. I don't know what purpose that would serve, but I can see a glint in Rudra's eyes that was missing all this while. The fact that they consider me and Shiven as family is something I wish I knew back then. Dreams✨ 8. I wish to draw. Infact, I wish to illustrate a picture book no matter how terrible I am with HB pencils. I somehow always manage to make marker tip blunt and let's just not talk about my merry time with water paints. But still I wish to draw. I have stories to illustrate. I notice every minute detail about people. So my cute balloon girl and lumberjack oldie doodles has not really fallen on paper from the skies. I am observing. I am grasping. I am learning.
